The 2025 GMC Yukon Denali is large, luxurious, and proud of it. With plenty of power and space to move people and toys, the Yukon is one of the top options in the full-size SUV market. Upscale appointments are standard no matter what GMC Yukon trim you choose, but the Denali and the Denali Ultimate are the trims that spare no luxurious expense.

Upmarket Suburban Alternative

It’s not a secret that the Yukon and the Yukon XL are built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. However, it’s the unique style and luxury additions that set the GMC SUVs apart. The shared platform is a solid one with two V8 engines to choose from. The Yukon also offers the option of an efficient and torquey diesel engine that makes an impressive 27 MPG on the highway.

The Yukon models now feature an independent rear suspension that further improves the ride and handling. The cabin includes three rows of seats for up to eight people, plus tons of space for cargo and other items. Even though the base Yukon is relatively upmarket, the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims are where real luxury can be found.

A Bevy of New 2025 Features in the Yukon Denali

When you visit GMC truck dealers to see the new 2025 GMC Yukon, you’ll find out that there are a ton of new features on the big SUV. Styling updates include a new front fascia, grille, and headlight design. The front and rear lights on the Yukon can now play animation as well. The Denali Ultimate gets 24-inch wheels as standard, while they can be had as optional on the regular Denali.

You can now get second-row executive seating in the Denali Ultimate, plus a Bose audio system with 22 speakers. A newly available tech feature is night vision with thermal object detection. The only powertrain update is more power for the Duramax 3.0-liter diesel. The Denali is positioned in the middle of the lineup with the AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate above it.

2025 GMC Yukon Denali The Ultimate Luxury SUV with Power and Prestige - interior

Performance For Every Need

There isn’t an EV option for the Yukon as yet, but the standard engine on the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims is a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 420 horsepower but is also quite thirsty for fuel. The good news is that all models, including the Denali models, can be equipped with the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel. This engine makes a respectable 305 horsepower and a strong 495 pound-feet of torque. It’s also quite a bit more efficient than any of the gas V8 choices.

Among all the things it does well, the 2025 GMC Yukon Denali is great for towing. With the 6.2-liter V8 or Duramax diesel, you can tow up to 8,200 pounds. The diesel engine delivers more torque at lower rpm, making it the ideal towing choice. The Yukon also offers several trailering aids, including a jackknife alert and Transparent Trailer View.

The Yukon Denali Offers the Ultimate Comfort

As you might expect, the Yukon Denali offers a plush and luxurious interior filled with modern tech. Some of the unique touches include open-pore wood trim and chrome accents. Connectivity options include wireless Apple/Android integration and Google built-in. You don’t have to ride up front to be pampered, either. The rear rows come with plenty of creature comforts as well, including the option for second-row captain’s chairs.

If you need a big SUV to do it all, the 2025 GMC Yukon Denali fits the bill in every way.

You might think the Sierra EV would be the first electric truck form GMC, but its not. The 2025 GMC Sierra EV has a lot to offer, helping you get things done.

As you might expect, the Sierra EV and Silverado EV are built on the same platform, but as has always been the case, the GMC truck has higher-class features and qualities to make it the more upscale truck for your driving experience. The first model year for the Sierra EV came late in the model-year cycle, which means it hasn’t been available for long, but now we’ll get a full year with this new electric truck.

A few updates for a newish truck

The 2025 version of this electric truck will have a smaller battery option to provide more choices than before. There will be new trims added later in the year, with the AT4 and Elevation models entering the lineup to give you more options when looking at this electric truck. This truck debuted last year with only a few choices, but a more affordable Extended Range version or the Denali trim has been added to the mix.

Until the new additions arrive, the Denali trim includes remote automatic parking and an upgrade to the 5G connection. New paint colors, including Dark Ember Tintcoat, Deep Ocean Metallic, Summit White, Onyx Black, and Moonlight Matte, are available this year, giving you several new colors to choose from.

The power you need in an electric truck

The GMC Sierra EV comes standard with a powerful setup in the Denali trim. This electric powertrain has motors at the front and rear wheels, giving you the benefits of AWD in every model. The motors produce 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque.

You’ll also have several other tricks up your sleeve with this truck including an air suspension that can raiser or lower the truck to give you the height you need when you get behind the wheel. The Sierra EV should also have the benefits of the Hummer Ev’s “Crab Walk” feature which allows the truck to drive diagonally thanks to the turning off the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels.

Admirable driving qualities

This electric pickup truck from GMC isn’t short on anything. You’ll find a variety of drive models that allow the Sierra to drive the way you want. This truck also features a one-pedal driving option, which utilizes the regenerative braking system to slow the truck when you lift of the accelerator. The Sierra EV is shockingly quick, pardon the pun, but that’s what you get when you drive an electric vehicle of any size.

Quick and capable, what more would you ask for?

The GMC Sierra EV in the Denali Edition 1 trim can hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. While that’s not as quick as the Hummer EV, which completed the sprint in 3.3 seconds, it’s still exciting and quick. This is an incredible number for a truck that weighs as much as the Sierra EV.

While the sprint time is admirable, you probably don’t need this truck to rocket off the line for you. Instead, you’re probably more interested in the towing capacity. The Sierra EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds and can be equipped with the ProGrade Trailering system, which gives you:

  • An integrated trailer brake controller
  • A hitch-view camera
  • Trailer tire pressure sensors
  • Trailer camera
  • Blind-spot compatibility to the rear of the trailer

How far can you go?

If you want to drive this big and powerful truck for work, you need to know that it has you covered all day long. GMC offers this electric truck with an impressive driving range of 440 miles with the Max Range battery pack. If you need to add more range to the mix, it won’t take long. The Sierra EV can add up to 100 miles of range in 10 minutes using a Level 3 DC fast charging station. This means you can drive this truck all day long and keep working the way you would with a gas-powered Sierra.

One build for all

Every version of the GMC Sierra EV is a crew cab pickup with a six-foot bed. This should give you more than enough space for your whole family or work crew to enjoy the comfort offered inside this truck. There is a midgate function that expands the bed into the cabin to make it easier for you to carry longer items. You’ll also find a frunk where the gas engine would have resided, which means you’ve got all the cargo space you could ask for.

Will the new 2025 GMC Sierra EV become the electric truck you depend on every day?

The Future of EV Utility Vehicles

EV truck designers have been late to the game in introducing electric vehicles, but they’re starting to catch up. Find out what’s got buyers most excited now and what to look out for when it comes to compact electric trucks.

So far, most automakers who have tried their hands at creating EV pickups have tasked their most creative minds with finding ways to electrify current models. The Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV are great examples.

All that is poised to change. Automakers are beginning to embrace the idea of designing smaller, compact electric trucks with greater utility to city drivers. Let’s take a look at what’s already available and what’s in the works.

Currently Available Electric Trucks

The Rivian R1T is one of the smallest EV pickups available, though technically, it’s a midsize light-duty truck. With an estimated range of 420 mi, it’s got a payload capacity of 1,764 lbs and can tow up to 11,000 lbs.

Other larger alternatives include the Tesla Cybertruck, GMC Sierra EV, and GMC Hummer EV Pickup. So far, no compact EV pickups are currently for sale in the US.

Legacy Automakers Toy With Smaller Electric Trucks

Several mainstream automakers are considering the idea of releasing smaller EV pickups within the next few years. GMC and Chevrolet are working on a future compact EV pickup based on an AEV platform.

Some experts are also pining for a compact GMC Hummer EV, though the automaker has yet to indicate that it’s got anything in the works. On the other hand, the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon EVs should be available for the 2027 model year.

Some sources say the Ford Maverick may also be getting an EV variant as soon as 2028, and Ram plans to release a Dakota EV midsize pickup based on its STLA large platform for the 2027 model year.

Newcomers to the Game

There’s plenty of room for innovation in the EV truck market, as US startup Rivian has already proven. The Rivian R1T is one of the most popular electric pickups available. Soon, other aspiring US automakers, including Canoo and TELO, will join the startup.

Canoo, an EV automotive startup based in California, plans to release a compact pickup slightly smaller than the Ford Ranger. The tiny truck should have a range of 200 mi and charge in 28 minutes on a DC fast-charger. There’s no official release date yet, but Canoo is taking preorders.

Perhaps even more exciting, another startup called TELO Trucks is working on a compact electric pickup small enough to fit in the footprint of a MINI Cooper with a 60-inch bed and seating for five. It will have a 350 mi range and put out 500 hp of power.

Most experts believe these compact pickups represent a general market shift toward smaller EV utility vehicles. They combine capability with a footprint that makes them more appropriate for city driving, which could be the ideal pickup for the future.

In the ten years since Mary Barra became CEO of General Motors (GM), she has steered the company toward a bold new vision: an all-electric future. Barra’s leadership has been defined by major investments in electric vehicles (EVs) and autonomous driving technology. The most ambitious commitment came in 2021 when she announced GM would stop selling gas-powered vehicles by 2035. As the automotive world moves toward electrification, Barra’s legacy will likely hinge on whether GM can meet this goal.

A Bold Promise: Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, Zero Congestion

At a 2021 trade show, Barra shared GM’s vision for the future, one that includes zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. According to Barra, the key to achieving this vision is electrification. Under her leadership, GM has launched several all-electric models and expanded its EV lineup to nine cars and trucks, with four more on the way.

While Tesla continues to dominate the EV market, GM is gaining ground with its growing range of electric vehicles. From the affordable Chevy Bolt to the upcoming electric Cadillac Escalade IQ, GM is proving that it is serious about competing in the electric space. The Escalade IQ, with a starting price of $130,000 and a range of 460 miles per charge, is a prime example of GM’s commitment to innovation and luxury in the EV market.

Will GM Be All-Electric by 2035?

When asked whether GM will be entirely electric by 2035, Barra remained confident but realistic. “For our light-duty vehicles, yes,” she stated, adding that GM’s transition to electric vehicles would be guided by consumer demand. However, Barra acknowledged that the path to an all-electric future won’t be linear, especially in the face of slowing EV sales. While last year saw a decline in EV sales in the U.S., other countries are adopting electric vehicles faster, and Barra believes the trend will eventually catch up here. Despite the challenges, Barra is optimistic about GM’s ability to meet its 2035 target.

A Changing Market

GM’s move toward electrification isn’t without its hurdles. While EVs made up only about eight percent of new car sales in the U.S. last year, government subsidies and consumer incentives could help speed up the transition.

Barra’s approach to GM’s all-electric future is focused on flexibility and innovation. Whether it’s developing semi-autonomous driving systems like Super Cruise or working on high-performance electric models like the hybrid Corvette E-Ray, GM is staying ahead of the curve.

The Road Ahead

As the automotive industry undergoes rapid transformation, Barra remains confident in GM’s ability to lead the charge. With major investments in EV technology, a workforce driven by innovation, and a commitment to reducing emissions, Barra is betting on a future where GM will be at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution.

As the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) continues to gain momentum, charging infrastructure remains a huge factor in its success. General Motors (GM) is taking a major step forward in this area by opening access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers for its customers through a GM-approved NACS DC adapter. This development expands charging options for GM’s EV drivers and represents a major collaboration in the EV industry, making charging more convenient and accessible for customers across North America.

Access to Tesla Superchargers

GM customers in the United States will soon be able to use Tesla’s Supercharger network, thanks to the introduction of the GM-approved NACS DC adapter. The adapter allows Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC EV drivers to connect their vehicles to the extensive Tesla Supercharger network. Initially launching in the US for $225, the adapter will also be available to Canadian customers later this year.

This move grants GM customers access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers throughout North America. With this expansion, GM drivers can now tap into reliable charging stations that were previously exclusive to Tesla owners. Now, long-distance travel and daily commuting is much easier.

Improving the Customer Experience

Through the vehicle mobile app, GM customers can locate Tesla Superchargers, check station status, initiate charging sessions, and even pay for charging, all within one platform. This user-friendly approach makes EV ownership more convenient by simplifying the charging process, reducing range anxiety, and helping drivers find charging stations when they need them most.

Collaborative Efforts in Charging Infrastructure

GM’s partnership with Tesla to offer Supercharger access is just one part of its broader strategy to improve public EV charging infrastructure. GM has already taken steps to expand its own charging network in collaboration with companies like EVgo and Pilot Travel Centers. For instance, GM is working with EVgo to install 2,850 DC fast chargers in major metropolitan areas across the US, and it’s building an additional 2,000 fast chargers at Pilot and Flying J travel centers to accommodate long-distance travelers.

GM’s involvement in the creation of IONNA, a joint venture to develop a high-powered charging network, shows its commitment to accessible EV infrastructure. With a goal of installing more than 30,000 chargers in both urban and highway locations, GM is working hard to ensure that EV drivers have plenty of options when it comes to fast, reliable charging.

A Bright Future for EV Drivers

With GM’s expansion into the Tesla Supercharger network, EV drivers will have even more charging options at their fingertips. This collaboration between two major players in the electric vehicle space signals a future where EV owners can expect greater convenience and accessibility, no matter where they’re headed. By improving public charging infrastructure and making it easier for customers to charge their vehicles, GM is leading the way toward a more electrified and connected future.

The GMC Hummer EV is a unique vehicle in that it’s ostensibly an EV, but it’s wildly inefficient, which makes it almost anti-EV in a sense. Either way, it’s an impressive vehicle with pillowy air springs, agile rear-wheel steering, and breathtaking acceleration with the tri-motor model. This truck either astounds in its capability or offends with its excess.

Defining An Electric Supertruck

The Hummer EV is probably best described as an electric supertruck. It features a ton of hardcore off-road hardware, up to 1,000 horsepower, and can hit 60 MPH in only 3.3 seconds. Considering that the Hummer EV weighs nearly five tons, that number is incredibly fast. GMC touts a driving range of 381 miles for the tri-motor model and up to 311 miles for the dual-motor model.

All GMC Hummer EV models include a five-foot bed, adjustable air suspension, rear-axle steering, and GM Super Cruise. If you don’t want a truck bed, there’s also an SUV version. The driving range is reduced if you opt for the Extreme Off-Road package that adds stronger axles, more underbody armor, and 35-inch mud tires.

The interior of the Hummer EV doesn’t exactly reflect its nearly six-figure price tag, but there’s nothing else out there that offers the excess of this truck. GMC plans to release a slightly more affordable version in the future.

Two Trims To Choose From

The top trim of the GMC Hummer EV is the 3x model. This is also the one that starts with a three-figure price tag of $106,945. The 2x model costs slightly less at $98,845. For the extra $8,100, you’ll get nearly double the horsepower and the WTF mode feature that delivers the incredible acceleration cited above. With a standard battery and 22-inch wheels, the tri-motor model should get 314 miles of range, but adding the optional extended-range battery increases that to 381 miles.

However, you can also go the opposite direction and add the Extreme Off-Road package, which drops the range to 298 miles but adds some impressive off-road features. Yet another package, called the Off-Road Readiness package, adds a full-size spare tire and a vertical bed-mounted carrier. For the ultimate outdoor experience with this truck, you can also get removable roof panels.

Living With the GMC Hummer EV

Is this the type of truck you’d consider a daily driver? That somewhat depends on what you use it for. The dual-motor version offers 570 horsepower and has a decent range. It can tow up to 12,000 pounds as well. The tri-motor version tends to be the least efficient. It can only tow up to 8,500 pounds when properly equipped. However, the range quickly drops to only 140 miles.

The weight of the GMC Hummer EV is the biggest factor in its lack of efficiency. The three-motor model with standard 22-inch wheels can get the equivalent of 58 MPG, but some rivals get about 10 MPG more. The interior is spacious, but maybe not as spacious as you would expect, considering the size. It does offer plenty of tech and connectivity features, including a 13.4-inch infotainment display.

Ultimately, this isn’t your average truck or EV. It stands out with an excess of, well, excess, which is why it’s considered a supertruck and not a daily driver.

The GMC Hummer EV is a massive vehicle, tipping the scales at nearly 9,000 pounds. This weight doesn’t stop it from being an incredible electric vehicle.

GMC offers the Hummer EV in both SUV and pickup versions and delivers several versions with various powertrain systems. This massive beast is capable, opulent, and carries the Hummer name proudly while being completely different from the H2s and H3s of old. Using a massive battery pack, this GMC can travel for up to 381 miles on a single full charge.

Here are some things you’ll want to know about the GMC Hummer EV.

This is a massive beast

The battery pack in the Hummer EV models weighs as much as a Honda Civic. This massive battery tips the scales at nearly 3,000 pounds, but that’s not even half the weight of this big vehicle. The heaviest version of this GMC is the pickup truck model at the Edition 1 trim, which comes in at 9,640 pounds. The SUV version is a little lighter at 8,900 pounds. That means the Hummer EV could be a Class 3 medium-duty truck based on this curb weight.

Incredible size and road presence

The GMC Hummer EV is extremely wide, which gives it the road presence that you’ll see with this big vehicle. The Hummer name has always been associated with massive vehicles, some of which were too massive for their own good. The new electric versions of these vehicles are the new definition of excess. Still, the Hummer EV isn’t larger than every gas-powered SUV or truck in the market, but it’s pretty darn close.

The Hummer EV proves what an EV can do

This massive electric truck and SUV pair aren’t made to be extremely eco-friendly and green, but they only use electricity to power the motors. Instead of being one of the greenest vehicles in the world, this massive GMC is more of a showcase vehicle than anything else. It shows off what EVs can do by using one of the largest battery packs in the market and offering drivers several amazing features that make it more fun to drive and enjoy. This show-stopper is a lot of fun to see on and off the road.

This EV is inefficient

Yes, the GMC Hummer EV is a fully electric vehicle, but that doesn’t make it efficient. It takes a lot more electricity to charge the batteries in this EV than three smaller models. The batteries are massive at 246.8-kWh, which is more than three 82-kWh batteries for the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD. The driving range is impressive, but that doesn’t make the Hummer EV efficient. Still, this massive EV is something to admire, and it can handle nearly every situation.

This massive EV has some really cool features

GMC didn’t simply build a massive version of the Yukon and give it a retired name. Instead, they gave this amazing EV lots of great features. The Hummer EV has several surprises in store for drivers. Here are a few of them:

Watts to Freedom

The Watts to Freedom feature is the launch control system that allows this massive EV to use all of its power at once during a rocket-fast acceleration from 0 to 60 mph. This big SUV can hit this market in 3.5 seconds or less, which makes it faster than some sports cars.

CrabWalk

GMC created the Hummer EV to be an incredible off-road vehicle. The addition of the CrabWalk feature makes it much easier to travel at angles around various obstacles on the trails. This feature turns the rear wheels to allow the vehicle to drive at angles to move around obstacles on the trails.

Extract Mode

Some vehicles are built to be high off the ground, and this big GMC electric vehicle is one of them. Of course, some obstacles still might be too big for the Hummer EV at its normal height. The Extract Mode allows the driver to raise the height by six inches using the air suspension, which allows this massive vehicle to travel over taller obstacles in its path.

Extreme Off-Road Package

Adding the Extreme Off-Road Package to this big vehicle gives it more capability on the trails, which ensures it can tackle most of the terrain it might face. This package has 18-inch wheels, 35-inch mud terrain tires, a front e-locker, rear virtual locker, five skid plates, and rock sliders with built-in steps.

The GMC Hummer EV is an incredible electric vehicle, built to be the excessive vehicle that shows what EVs can do.

With GM’s promise to phase out gas-powered vehicles and offer an all-electric lineup within the next 15 years, we’ll continue to see more electric-powered GMC vehicles arriving at GMC dealers.

Right now, there are a few electric trucks and SUVs in the GMC fleet, but there are more coming, and it may be sooner than you think.

The Capable GMC Hummer EV Truck

The GMC Hummer EV truck was the first all-electric GMC to make an appearance at GMC dealers. It offers a unique blend of rugged capabilities and environmental consciousness. The impressive electric powertrain produces 1000 horsepower and sprints from zero to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds. This electric truck can use brute force to make its way over almost any terrain, while the rear-wheel steering system makes it easy to maneuver whether you’re on the trail or in the city. It even features a unique crab driving mode that will move it sideways.

Go Big in the GMC Hummer EV SUV

The GMC Hummer EV SUV arrived on the tail of the Hummer EV truck. While it shares many of the truck’s features and offers similar performance, it’s also more family-friendly, with more space in the cabin for passengers. The all-electric powertrain churns out 830 horsepower and gets up to 11,500 pound-feet of torque. This version of the Hummer will zip from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Drivers who are wondering about range for this large EV have nothing to worry about. It can go up to 300 miles on a full charge.

The GMC Sierra EV is Coming

Everyone loves the GMC Sierra pickup truck, and when the new Sierra EV arrives at GMC dealers in the near future, they will not only love its features and capabilities but also its efficiency and power. The official name for this new pickup is the GMC Sierra Denali Edition 1. And, with Denali part of its name, this truck is sure to deliver when it comes to upscale features and luxury.

Like the Hummer EVs and the Silverado EV, the Sierra will ride on the Ultium platform with a large battery pack that will help it get up to 400 miles of range. It will have all the latest technology, including GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving technology, and it will feature GMC’s innovative MultiPro Midgate. This gate serves as a divider between the cabin and the bed that can be lowered when you have long items to move but want to keep the tailgate up.

What’s on the Horizon

While the GMC EV lineup currently features the two GMC Hummer models and the upcoming Sierra Denali EV, there is much more on the horizon. Keep your eyes peeled for a GMC Yukon EV. This full-size luxury SUV will sit at the top of GMC’s SUV lineup, and since it will be built right in the U.S., it could be an affordable option for SUV buyers who want to make the switch to an electric vehicle.
