2026 Polestar 4 Gets $10,000 Price Drop and Better Range
Some EVs are too expensive for most drivers, but the new Polestar 4 for 2026 showed up with a better driving range and price than expected.
Electric vehicles have had a tough run over the past couple of years. Once most buyers got past the newness of EVs, they began to figure out the flaws and challenges facing these alternative-fuel vehicles. Although EVs can be charged at home and are much cleaner to drive than traditional vehicles, the charging time, driving ranges, and price often keep many buyers from choosing them. That could change for the 2026 Polestar 4.
What makes this electric crossover SUV much more attractive to some buyers?
The 2026 Polestar 4 just became way more tempting with a massive $10,000 discount and up to 310 miles of range, though it still lacks the NACS charging port everyone wants. The lack of an NACS port could be problematic, as the Polestar 4 uses the CCS1 charging port, which means you can’t take this EV to a Tesla Supercharger to bring the batteries to the 80% charge that you want. Still, finding the right charging port could be easy enough for many buyers, and this might be one of the best electric vehicle deals offered in the past few years. In a world where most things are getting expensive, it’s nice to see an EV price cut on a new model.
The Polestar 4 for 2026 is a competitive choice
The Polestar 4 has a sloped rear end, giving it a coupe-like style, which makes it a much more attractive electric SUV than the Polestar 3. The rear design differs from its sibling, as does the rear window, which is not present in the Polestar 4. Instead, drivers will see a digital rearview mirror, which gives them a full view of the area behind the vehicle, ensuring safety and transparency. The new Polestar electric SUV was expected to be priced much higher, but could be a fantastic alternative for shoppers who are considering the Audi Q8 e-tron or Tesla Model Y.
Two powertrains for some electric driving options
The Polestar 4 specs show that the starting point gives you a single-motor RWD setup with 268 horsepower. This version delivers the greatest driving range at 310 miles on a single charge and offers the most affordable price. The AWD, dual-motor model achieves 536 horsepower and offers 280 miles of Polestar 4 driving range. If you choose the top-trim Long Range Dual Motor Performance trim, you’ll have a quick and decisive electric SUV, but the driving range drops to 255 miles. If you find a charging station working at its maximum capacity, charging the batteries from 10 to 80 percent should only take about 30 minutes.
No rear window, no problem
The lack of a rear window allows the Polestar 4 to be a future-forward SUV in 2026. The designers pushed the rear seats further back in the cabin than you might expect, which increases the rear-seat legroom. That makes the SUV much more comfortable for all passengers than most two-row models of similar size. You’ll also find good headroom in the rear, which isn’t impeded by the rakish roofline.
Looking around the cabin, you’ll see the minimalist and pleasant styling that is expected in EVs. What you won’t see is a rear window, and that means a little more privacy and comfort for those in the rear seats. You can have vinyl Nappa leather, or knit textile made from recycled plastic as your upholstery choices for this attractive new EV.
A big screen in the Polestar 4 for 2026
Every version of the Polestar 4 comes with a 15.4-inch infotainment screen that operates the most updated Google-based interface. You can still connect using Apple CarPlay if desired, making it easy to get used to this system. You’ll also see a standard 10.2-inch digital gauge display with the information desired. An optional 14.7-inch head-up display is available, as is a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, which can be upgraded to 16 speakers.
Should you choose the base model?
Unless you really need/want the added horsepower or AWD, the Single Motor version has ample power, good acceleration, and the longest driving range, making it a good choice for most drivers. You can add items, such as the Pilot and Plus packages, to make your Polestar 4 better for your driving experience in 2026.
